I almost wish that I got to experience hearing about char aznable before actually seeing what he’s like. it’s gotta be so jarring to hear people talking about this suave machiavellian maverick for years only to finally watch 0079 and see the cockroach boy skittering about in panic

this is also kind of what actually meeting char in-setting has to be like, to be fair

I think this happens a lot because a lot of people’s first introduction to the Charchetype is actually “fun fact Lelouch vi Britannia is based on this guy from some anime from the 70’s”

And like I think a greater proportion of Code Geass fans who still think think Lelouch is cool than Gundam fans who still think Char is cool

So the experience can be pretty jarring
